The tournament that will close the Ladies European Tour season will take place from November 23 to 26 at the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas.

The Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, located in the Costa del Sol town of Marbella, will be the setting for the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open of Spain 2023, a tournament that, as has been traditional since 2020, will close the season of the Ladies European Tour and will decide the winner of the Race to Costa del Sol, the ranking of said circuit.

In this way, the historic route, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1968 and updated by Kyle Phillips in 2015, will resume “a record of the club that had been left on stand-by in the last 20 years,” said the general director. from the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, Paul Muñoz.

“We convinced our members that we had to give some renewal to the DNA of the club, whose identity is the celebration of large events, and the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain fits perfectly with what we were looking for,” he added.

The Real Club de Golf Las Brisas was the scene of two World Cups (1973 and 1989) and two Spanish Opens (1983 and 1987), and was attended by great players such as Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, Nick Faldo or José María Cañizares.

Therefore, “this tournament will once again place the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas on the golf map. We want to renew that feeling that the club had before, and doing so with a women’s event is a plus, not only because it is booming. , but because it will give the club a new positioning and will place us on the map in a very interesting way,” he continued in this regard.

As for the course, which will host the best players on the European circuit, it will have several holes that could be decisive, especially since its redesign, although “the 11th hole will be the most emblematic and special, since there were great moments in it the tournaments that were held in the 70s and 80s,” explained Paul Muñoz.

“The key to success in facing the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas will be to be very consistent. I think that the player who focuses on hitting fairways will have a good chance of winning,” he added.

The design of the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is complemented by the landscaping created by the Englishman Gerald Huggan. As if it were a botanical garden, plants and trees from all continents, such as the Cape Chestnut and Prickly Acacias, the Indian Laurel and the Mysore Ficus from Asia, the Chorisia speciosa from America, the Green Ash from Mexico and the Pine Australian whistler, as well as numerous palm trees and Mediterranean trees, fill the route.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain, which will be in its twenty-first edition and which will have two Spaniards in its showcases such as Azahara Muñoz, this one twice, and Carlota Ciganda, will put the finishing touch to what will be, without a doubt, the best year of Spanish women’s golf in history after the Solheim Cup from September 18 to 24.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain, the last event on the Ladies European Tour calendar, is sponsored by Andalucía, Costa del Sol and Acosol as main sponsors, along with the Marbella City Council, the Benahavís City Council and Reale Seguros.
